When it comes to finances, fall is the perfect time to turn over a new leaf. Paying down debt is a great place to start. Follow these tips to start taking steps to becoming debt-free:
• Know what you owe. Make a chart of your debts, including balances, interest rates and minimum payments.
• Cut back where you can. Look for ways you can save every month, and put those extra dollars toward your debt.
• Decide what works best for you – and stick with it. You might use extra funds to pay off your smallest debts first for quick progress, or you could focus on saving interest by paying off your highest-interest debt first.
