Your life insurance policy may do more than provide a death benefit. Optional riders can add valuable protection for specific situations: but it’s important to understand what each one covers.

• Accelerated Death Benefit: May allow access to part of the death benefit if you experience a qualifying terminal, chronic, or critical illness.

• Waiver of Premium: May waive your premiums if you become totally disabled and meet the policy’s requirements.

• Accidental Death: May provide an additional benefit if death results from a covered accident.

• Child Term Rider: May provide term life insurance coverage for eligible children under your policy.

Before adding a rider, ask:
• What event triggers the benefit?
• Are there exclusions or waiting periods?
• Is there an additional cost?
• How could using the rider affect the policy’s future death benefit or cash value?

Riders can be helpful, but they aren’t one-size-fits-all. Review your options carefully and choose coverage that fits your needs and budget.

Who receives your life insurance benefit if something happens to you? Your beneficiary designation helps answer that question.

A primary beneficiary is first in line to receive the policy benefit. A contingent beneficiary is the backup recipient if the primary beneficiary has passed away or cannot receive the benefit.

Keeping these designations updated is important. Review them after marriage, divorce, the birth or adoption of a child, or the death of a beneficiary.

Common mistakes include naming an ex-spouse unintentionally, forgetting to add a contingent beneficiary, failing to specify percentages, or naming a minor without considering the appropriate planning requirements.

Take a few minutes to review your policy and make sure your beneficiary designations still reflect your wishes. Policy terms and applicable laws may affect how benefits are paid.

Your business is more than a building, a balance sheet, or a daily operation: it represents years of hard work and dedication.

Life insurance can play an important role in protecting your business through:

• Key person coverage to help address the financial impact of losing a vital team member
• Buy-sell agreements to help fund the purchase of a departing owner’s interest
• Business succession planning to help support a smoother transition for the next generation

The right strategy can help protect your partners, employees, customers, and the future you’re building.

A standard homeowners policy usually does not cover flood damage: and in Louisiana, that distinction matters.

Flood insurance is designed to help protect your home and belongings from rising water caused by events such as heavy rain, storm surge, overflowing waterways, and drainage issues. Coverage may be available through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or through private insurers.

A few important points to remember:

• NFIP policies generally have a 30-day waiting period before coverage begins, with limited exceptions.
• Building coverage and personal property coverage are separate, so both should be reviewed carefully.
• Flood insurance may help cover qualifying damage to your home’s structure and belongings, subject to policy limits, deductibles, exclusions, and eligibility requirements.
• Flood risk is not limited to properties near the coast or a designated flood zone. Heavy rainfall can create serious flooding in many Louisiana communities.

Don’t wait until a storm is approaching to ask about coverage. Contact ASG Group Insurance Agency to review your flood insurance options and make an informed decision about protecting your home.

A named storm deductible can work differently than your standard homeowners deductible: especially in Louisiana.

Here’s the difference:

A standard deductible may apply to covered losses such as theft, fire, or certain accidental damage.

A wind or hail deductible may apply to damage caused by wind or hail, depending on your policy.

A named storm deductible may apply when a qualifying named tropical storm or hurricane causes covered damage. It is often calculated as a percentage of your home’s insured value rather than a fixed dollar amount.

Because policy language varies, ask your insurance professional:

What events trigger my named storm deductible?
Is my wind or hail deductible separate from my standard deductible?
Is the deductible a flat amount or a percentage?
When does the deductible begin and end?

Understanding your policy before storm season can help prevent surprises when you need coverage most.

Have questions about your homeowners insurance? Contact ASG Group Insurance Agency for guidance tailored to your situation.

Insurance coverage, terms, and deductibles vary by policy. Review your policy and consult a licensed insurance professional for specific advice.

Louisiana homeowners: hurricane preparation starts before the storm is in the forecast. 🌧️

Take time to review your policy and confirm:

• Your named storm deductible and how it applies
• Whether wind and hail damage are covered
• Your dwelling, personal property, and additional living expense limits
• That flood insurance is in place if needed: flood damage is generally not covered by a standard homeowners policy

Also, document your home and belongings, secure outdoor items, trim weak branches, and keep important policy information accessible.

Coverage details can vary by policy, so don’t wait until storm season is at its peak to ask questions. Call ASG Group Insurance Agency at (318) 459-6446 for a review of your homeowners coverage.

Stay prepared. Stay protected.
