Open enrollment is here for Texas Teachers!! I would like to remind you on this from the actual TRS website. Your TRS “life insurance” plan is subject to federal income taxes to your beneficiaries. Most of the time these benefits are not enough coverage.

However, a life insurance policy you OWN outside of work is NOT taxable. Be sure to look closely at the options you sign. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out and ask. I am here to help you and your family protect their future! I am a former educator of 14 years.
