October is Fire Prevention Month—a timely reminder that a few simple habits can make a meaningful difference at home.

At Terry Jones Insurance Agency, we encourage our North Texas neighbors to take a few minutes to review fire safety with everyone in the household:

• Test smoke alarms monthly and replace units that are 10 years old or more.
• Keep anything flammable at least three feet from heaters, fireplaces, and other heat sources.
• Never leave cooking unattended.
• Make an escape plan with two exits from each room and a designated outdoor meeting place.
• Keep a fire extinguisher accessible, and remember: if a fire feels unsafe to fight, get out and call 911.
