My mom spent 17 years in this office doing exactly what I do now. A lot of people around here knew her as “the insurance lady,” but I got to know the other side of it too.

Mom believed very strongly in life insurance. She made sure our family had it—even when we probably rolled our eyes and thought she was being a little excessive.

Then we lost her.

I wish more than anything that we had never needed the policies she insisted on. But when our family was already dealing with losing her, we didn’t also have to figure out how to pay for everything she left behind.

I understand now why she was so persistent.

Life insurance isn’t really about the person who has the policy. It’s about the people they love who are left to keep going. ❤️
