In this clip from our Retirement Red Zone webinar, Curtis Irby, CFP® outlines what every retiree should know about RMDs:

• Born 1951-1959: RMDs begin at age 73.
• Born 1960 or later: RMDs begin at age 75.
• The penalty for a missed distribution: 25%, reduced from 50% under recent legislation, and potentially as low as 10% when corrected promptly.

For the charitably inclined, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can offer an solution: direct your RMD to a qualified charity and benefit from meaningful tax advantages.

Growing assets is one thing. Keeping clients is another.

Our CEO Phil Fiore told Barron's Advisor that net organic growth is the number he watches most closely, because it shows both sides of the business. New clients coming in show that business development and marketing are working. Clients staying shows that service is working.

"If you're not paying attention to what's happening at the back door, then you don't know if you have a broken gasket in the engine," Fiore said.

Clients rarely ask for an annuity by name. They ask to travel more, to help their kids, to stop checking their account balance every time the market drops.

Senior Vice President & Private Wealth Advisor Jesse VanValin walked through how he achieves this. He backs out the investment values, puts a number on the desired income, and calculates how much of it Social Security or a pension already covers.

"If there's a gap, we walk through the ways to fill it, and a guaranteed income annuity is simply one option next to a bond ladder or a cash bucket that helps to determine what fits best in their case," Jesse shared. "If the client sees the gap themselves and chooses the tool, it never feels like a sales pitch; it just feels like the option they were looking for."

This week marked another incredible year for the Procyon Strong Tournament. For 16 years now, this community has shown up for a day on the course filled with good conversations, friendly competition, and support for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the heroes who inspire us every day.

We were honored to have Dan DeLeon from the Tunnel to Towers Foundation join us and remind everyone why we do this. Hearing about the real impact on first responders, veterans, military personnel, and their families never fails to move the room.
