My calendar told me it’s the first day of Hispanic Heritage month today, which reminded me of all the good things (especially) yummy things that the Hispanic culture adds to our lives. I used to order chicken mole weekly from a restaurant in Reno, but now that I live full time in the Cove, I’m forced to be more creative! If you look up “Instant Pot Chicken Mole” online, there’s a great recipe by Erin Clarke. It’d be a stretch to call it authentic, but it’s definitely delicious!

I’m almost done with this book and I can’t recommend it more!

One part that resonated with me is understanding the inherent motivators that happen based on the reward system. It’s not just that you need people that “agree with your mission”. You also need a compensation structure that rewards looking at the big picture and not just individual metrics.

“They will skew. They will skim. They will downgrade. In the mindless pursuit of “hitting the numbers,” people will do anything that’s legal without the slightest remorse—even if it grossly violates the spirit of the mission—and they will find ways to look more favorably upon what’s illegal. All of us won’t stoop to this behavior all the time. But most of us will some of the time.”
