Meals and Messages has been raising funds to support our beloved healthcare workers during the pandemic by bringing them delicious lunches and snacks. Yesterday, they joined with The Denise Kaley Fund to bring lunch, cookies, and flowers to 110 of our friends at BMC's Cancer Center who are working so hard to keep their patients safe and protected while going through their treatments. Huge thanks to Guidos Fresh Marketplace and Bella Flora Berkshires, MA for all their hard work!

Today marks The Denise Kaley Fund’s 10 year anniversary! We have made 325 grants worth a total of $140,735.00 since our inception and we could not have done it without you, our amazing family of donors. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making Denise’s dream of helping to ease the burden of low income women in the Berkshires living with cancer come true.

This past Sunday The Denise Kaley Fund was presented a check for $7500 from WAM Theatre, a portion of the proceeds from the incredible production of ANN starring Jayne Atkinson. This extraordinary generosity from WAM allows the Denise Kaley Fund to serve more women than ever before, to give grants that are higher than we have been able to give, and to reach those women who might not have known about us and show that we are there for them. We are so thrilled to take this giant step forward and hope that you will support WAM Theatre.

WAM's mission: Every time an audience comes together for a theatrical event, a community is formed. WAM Theatre engages that community by 1) producing theatrical events for everyone, with a focus on women theatre artists and/or stories of women and girls 2) donating a portion of proceeds from those theatrical events to organizations that work to benefit the lives of women and girls in our communities and worldwide.

"Through theatre and in theater we strive for equality in opportunity and treatment. We are champions for human rights, working to create change by creating opportunity for women and girls which lifts all of humanity. We work diligently and tirelessly for fairness and equal access through our dual mission of theatrical and philanthropic endeavors."

The happiest day of the WAM Year - Check Presentation Day! $15,000 divided equally between our two beneficiaries - The Denise Kaley Fund and the Women's Fund of Western Massachusetts LIPPI Program. Whoo-hoo!

The Denise Kaley Fund, beginning its 8th year has made 212 life-altering grants to women in the Berkshires who are navigating both cancer and severe financial need, thanks to your generous donations over the years. With a solid endowment to carry us well into the future, our goal is to now spend everything we raise each year. A full 98 percent of your tax-deductible gift goes directly to the women we serve. Now in our SEVENTH year of providing support for the day-to-day living expenses of women in Berkshire County who are living with both cancer and extreme financial need, we offer thanks to all of you who have helped make a difference for some remarkable women in our region who are going through a tough time. This year, with every grant we make (and we often make several in a week) we have started including a $50 grocery card to help just a little bit more. If anyone knows of someone who needs our help please have them contact Cheryl Thomson ([email protected]) at Fairview Hospital or Kathy Hart ([email protected]) at BMC and they will help you with the application.
