🌟 Wednesday Spotlight: Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County 🌟

This week, we’re proud to spotlight Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County, an organization dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.

Safe Harbor’s mission centers on providing compassionate support and comprehensive services while helping build a community rooted in safety, equity, dignity, and healthy relationships.

Their vision is a safe, inclusive community free from interpersonal violence, where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

Beyond supporting survivors, Safe Harbor also works to prevent future violence through education, awareness, and challenging societal norms that perpetuate abuse.

We are grateful to have organizations like Safe Harbor in our community, providing critical resources, advocacy, education, and hope to individuals and families throughout Sheboygan County.

💸📚 Financial Friday: Back-to-School Budgeting

Back-to-school season is exciting, but it can also come with a whole new set of expenses!

Whether you’re a college student trying to make student loans, a part-time paycheck, and living expenses stretch while navigating life on your own for the first time, or a parent budgeting for school supplies, fees, lunches, sports, and extracurricular activities, we’ve got you covered!

A few places to start:

🎒 Make a list of expected school expenses before you start shopping
💰 Separate needs from wants and set spending limits

🏀 Parents: plan ahead for fees and extracurricular costs that may pop up throughout the year
🛍️ Shop what you already have before buying new

And if you could use a little extra help, stop into Family Service Association’s Consumer Credit Counseling Service for a budgeting session! We’ll sit down with you, look at your current finances, and help identify ways you may be able to free up some money for those upcoming back-to-school expenses.

We know summer isn’t over yet, but this is a great time to set yourself and your kids up for success before the school-year expenses start rolling in. 💚

🌟 Wednesday Spotlight: Sheboygan County Interfaith Organization (SCIO) 🌟

This week, we’re highlighting Sheboygan County Interfaith Organization (SCIO), a longtime local organization focused on dignity, advocacy, collaboration, and improving quality of life throughout Sheboygan County.

SCIO supports families in a variety of ways, including Bridgeway, a transitional living program for mothers with children experiencing homelessness or unstable housing, and Family Pathways, which provides safe, supervised visitation and exchange services for families navigating difficult transitions.

SCIO is also the organization behind the Sheboygan Farmers Market at Fountain Park! 🌽🥕🍅

And you’ll find Family Service Association & Consumer Credit Counseling Service there on Wednesday the 19th, helping start conversations about budgeting, student loans, credit building, homeownership, and overall financial wellness.

We’re grateful for organizations like SCIO that continue connecting people with the support and resources they need. 💚

🚨 Cryptocurrency & Financial Scams Are on the Rise

Family Service Association and Consumer Credit Counseling Service are members of the FA$T Team (the Financial Abuse Specialist Team) hosted by the Sheboygan County ADRC.

Common scam warning signs include:

• Requests for payment through cryptocurrency, Bitcoin ATMs, gift cards, or wire transfers
• “Guaranteed” investment returns
• Pressure to act immediately or keep a transaction secret
• Someone you met online asking you to invest or send money
• Requests for passwords, verification codes, or banking information

FSA and CCCS work alongside the Sheboygan County ADRC, Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department, and other community partners to help prevent financial exploitation.

If you believe you’ve been the victim of a scam, report it!

Financial literacy is one of the first steps toward protecting yourself. Know the warning signs, ask questions, and stay vigilant. 💙

🐾 Tomorrow is International Cat Day! 🐾

Don’t let an impulse decision put your finances in a cat-astrophe! 🐱

With rising costs, even our furry friends have become more expensive to care for. Before bringing home a pet, remember to budget for more than the initial adoption fee. Food, litter, routine veterinary care, vaccinations, medications, supplies, grooming, and unexpected emergencies can all add up quickly.

If you’re thinking about adding a pet to your family, visit us at Consumer Credit Counseling Service for a free budget counseling session! Together, we can explore your options and help make sure your new furry friend has everything they need while keeping your finances on track.

Pets may be priceless, but responsible pet ownership still comes with a price tag. Plan ahead, and remember: adopt, don’t shop! 🐾💚
