ROOFING SCAM LEADS TO ARREST:

Our NCDOI Special Agents recently investigated a case involving a Vanceboro man accused of intentionally damaging a roof to make it appear weather damaged and collect insurance money.

Cameron Alexander Hammond, 34, faces felony charges of insurance fraud, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and damage to residential property.

Roofing scams are more common than many people realize. Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey and our Criminal Investigations Division are working to fight fraud and protect North Carolina homeowners.

Applications are available online to view and download before the festival, but you can also complete your application when you arrive. All contestants must register in person at the Contest Tent before competing.
