🎓 College Move-In Season Is Around the Corner!

If your student is heading off to college this fall, here's a friendly insurance reminder:

Most students are bringing thousands of dollars worth of belongings with them:

💻 Laptops
📱 Phones
🎧 Headphones
🚲 Bikes and eBikes*
🛏 Furniture and personal items

Many families assume these items are automatically covered, but coverage may be limited depending on the situation.

That's why I often recommend a dedicated renters policy. It's one of the most affordable ways to protect a student's belongings and provide liability protection.

I especially like the Progressive Renters product with the HomeShield endorsement because it can provide additional benefits such as:

✔ Enhanced computer coverage
✔ Increased bicycle coverage limits
✔ Water backup protection
✔ Increased personal property limits for many common student belongings

These added protections can make a real difference when life happens.

*Parents of eBike Riders: Washington's new eBike regulations are now in effect. If your student is taking an eBike to school, let's make sure it's properly classified and appropriately insured.

🚨 RECALL ALERT FOR Jeep OWNERS 🚨

Stellantis has announced a recall affecting more than 1 million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles from model years 2021–2025.

The concern? A wiring issue that could potentially lead to a vehicle fire, even when the vehicle is turned off.

If you own one of these vehicles:

✔ Check your VIN for recall status
✔ Contact your Jeep dealer
✔ Park outside and away from structures until repairs are completed
✔ Make sure your insurance coverage is up to date

Safety recalls are a good reminder that unexpected events can happen at any time. If you have questions about your auto insurance or want a second opinion on your coverage, I'm always happy to help.

🚨 Washington E-Bike Owners: New Rules Start June 11 🚨

Washington State is drawing a much clearer line between e-bikes and electric motorcycles.

Beginning June 11:

🔹 E-bikes must have working pedals
🔹 Motor-only speed cannot exceed 20 mph
🔹 Faster electric cycles will now be considered motorcycles
🔹 A driver's license may be required
🔹 Riders under 16 may no longer be allowed to operate many high-speed models

These changes are designed to improve safety on roads, bike lanes, and shared-use trails.

💡 Insurance Tip:

Not every "e-bike" is automatically covered the same way.

Some higher-powered electric bikes may now fall under motorcycle regulations, which could impact:
✔ Liability coverage
✔ Registration requirements
✔ Licensing requirements
✔ Insurance eligibility

If you're considering purchasing an e-bike for yourself or your child this summer, it's worth understanding exactly what you're buying before you click "Add to Cart."

Have questions? Reach out anytime—I'm happy to help explain how these changes could affect your coverage.

🎉 Client Win: First-Time Auto Insurance Made Easy

Moving off a parent's insurance policy and onto your own can feel overwhelming—but it doesn't have to be.

I recently helped a young driver find coverage that better fit her needs and budget, and this sweet review absolutely made my day:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Carrie was so helpful, made this car insurance transition smooth and easy for me. I am eternally grateful that she helped me find a better option for me."

Thank you, Madison! 💙

If you have a teen driver, college student, recent graduate, or young adult preparing to get their own policy, now is a great time to review your options. Every insurance company evaluates youthful drivers differently, and a quick review could lead to significant savings.

🎉 Weekly Client Win!

Did your teenager recently move out, graduate, get their own apartment, or purchase their first vehicle?

That may be one of the best times to review your insurance.

This week I helped a family move their daughter onto her own auto policy for the first time.

🚗 Daughter saved about $30/month

🚙 Parent saved nearly $60/month on their vehicle coverage

🏡 We also found savings on the homeowners policy

Many insurance companies have different pricing strategies when youthful drivers leave the household. What was the best fit several years ago may not be the best fit today.

A change in household size can impact:

✔ Auto premiums

✔ Homeowners premiums

✔ Liability exposures

✔ Umbrella coverage needs

✔ Overall insurance strategy

Life changes should trigger an insurance review—and this was a perfect example of why.

If you or someone you know has recently experienced a major life event, I'd love to help review their coverage and make sure they're getting the value they deserve.

🎓🚗 Graduation Season Is Here!

Thinking about gifting your graduate a vehicle?

It's an exciting milestone—but before the celebration starts, there are a few things every family should consider.

✔ Is the vehicle paid off and eligible to be gifted?
✔ Who will be listed on the title?
✔ How will insurance be structured?
✔ Can your graduate handle the ongoing costs of ownership?
✔ Are there discounts available for good grades or safe driving?

Many parents are surprised to learn that insurance costs for youthful drivers can be significant, especially when paired with newer vehicles, luxury models, or higher-performance cars.

Sometimes the smartest graduation gift isn't the flashiest car—it's a reliable vehicle with strong safety features and affordable operating costs.

Most importantly, take a few minutes to review your coverage, liability limits, and household insurance strategy before handing over the keys.

The goal isn't just getting your graduate on the road—it's helping them start this next chapter safely and financially prepared.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓🎉

If you have questions about how a gifted vehicle may impact your insurance, I'm always happy to help.

Did you know your e-bike may not be covered the way you think it is?

Many homeowners are surprised to learn that coverage for e-bikes can vary based on the bike's speed, motor type, value, and even how it's used.

Before riding into summer, ask yourself:

🚲 Is my e-bike covered for theft?

🚲 What happens if someone gets injured?

🚲 Are expensive batteries and accessories included?

🚲 Do I need specialized coverage?

With many e-bikes costing several thousand dollars, a quick review today could save a major headache later.

If you'd like a complimentary coverage review, I'm happy to help.

A new client came to me paying over $22,281/year in insurance premiums for their household vehicles 😳

This included:
🚙 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander
🚘 2026 Toyota Tundra
🛻 1991 Ford Bronco
🚗 1993 Honda Accord

multiple drivers including an 18-year-old with an accident

After doing a full insurance review, we were able to:

✔ Move the daily drivers to a better-fit carrier for $11,651/year
✔ Put the Bronco on a collector policy with:
• Agreed value coverage of $15,300
• Coverage designed for infrequent use
• Only $770.79/year

✔ Add Renters Insurance for just $465/year so their personal property and liability are protected too

💥 Total annual vehicle premiums dropped from $22,281.20 to $12,421.79 — saving this family nearly $9,860/year.

That kind of savings could go toward:
✈ A family vacation
🏠 Home upgrades
🎓 College savings
💰 Retirement goals

The biggest takeaway?
Insurance is NOT just about price — it’s about strategy.

The right carrier, proper vehicle classification, and a thoughtful coverage review can create substantial savings while still protecting what matters most.

If you haven’t reviewed your insurance in a while, now is a great time to revisit it - DM me to set up complimentary insurance review.
