Seattle Music Collective is a contemporary ensemble experience inspired by the sounds and creative spirit you hear on Seattle’s own KEXP. Students will collaborate to develop new music, rooted in a variety of styles where they let Indie electronic influenced alt, pop, experimental, or anything in between. The elective emphasizes creative exploration, modern production approaches, group decision-making, and the unique process of building a collective sound. throughout the session, students will write, arrange, rehearse, and refined, original material, culminating a final performance that showcases the ensemble’s work.

Throwback to our Premiere Pro Film Editing elective from this past Summer@Cornish!

Working with Adobe Premiere Pro, a professional non-linear editing system, students will learn essential skills such as importing and organizing footage, designing sound and image, adding transitions and effects, and troubleshooting common technical issues. Emphasis will be placed on how thoughtful editing choices can enhance mood, pacing, and storytelling.

Check out Summer@Cornish’s Dance Intensive + Audition Prep & Performance!

During the course of our 4-week program, students will explore a wide range of movement techniques and creative process work. The morning intensive runs Monday through Thursday and offers physical training in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and African-based forms, along with somatic practices, such as conditioning and yoga. Students will also engage in choreographic experimentation, improvisation, and performance based work. The faculty includes professional dancers in choreographers from Seattle’s vibrant, dance community, giving participants a direct connection to the cities, creative ecosystem. This program is designed to provide strong, foundational training while fostering the development of thoughtful, versatile, and expressive dancers.

Check out our Summer@Cornish Residency Program!

Over the course of the program, our residents experienced all that Cornish and Seattle had to offer. Staying just across the street from our main building, residents had 24/7 access to practice and studio spaces as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared by Cornish catering. In addition to evening events put on by Residency Assistants, residents went on weekend excursions around Seattle such as Pike Place Market, Water Taxi to Alki Beach, Museum of Pop Culture, and more!

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at our Musical & Theatre Final Performance from last year’s Summer@Cornish!

Modeled after Cornish’s BFA approach, our Musical & Theater Intensive blends rigorous acting and movement study with practical audition preparation to help students grow as both artists and performers. Throughout the program, students explore character development through sensory awareness, imagination, physical expression, and ensemble collaboration. The program culminates in a final performance on a Cornish stage, where students share selected scenes and musical performances with family and guests.

Check out our Analogue Printmaking elective being offered this year at Summer@Cornish!

In this class, students will explore the expressive potential of hand printing techniques and discover the unique mark-making possibilities that each process offers. Over the four week session, students will be introduced to a wide range of print, making methods, including screen printing, woodblock relief, monoprinting, intaglio, and collagraph. Through guided demonstrations and studio practice, students will create their own editioned and experimental prints, developing both technical skills and personal style.
