This month, we’re recognizing Michelle Seymour as our Giveback Employee of the Month.💙 Michelle, who is AVP of our Contact Center and E-Services, took community action into her own hands by organizing folks from the Contact Center team to adopt a Salem street. Their ongoing efforts have a real, visible impact, and it's a great example of what it means to show up for the community you call home.

Says Michelle, “I live and work in Salem, and it’s important to me to give back to the community I love. The more we work together, care about each other, and support one another, the more our entire community will thrive.”

In her honor, a $100 donation has been made to Hope's Haven Rescue, a cause close to her dog-loving heart.🐾

Thank you, Michelle (and team!), for the time, energy, and pride you bring to this work. Your efforts truly make a difference.

At our April 1 Donuts at the Dot event, we met Taylor Maxwell, Senior Development Coordinator for ALS Northwest.✨ She shared how the organization supports individuals and families living with ALS through advocacy, resources, and community-based care—in addition to raising awareness and funding critical services and research.

She also told us about the upcoming Walk ALS event, happening Saturday, May 2 at Riverfront Park in Salem. The event is a major fundraiser for the organization, and it's a fun way to bring the community together in support of those affected by ALS.🫶

Maps and the Maps Community Foundation are proud to support ALS Northwest and will be showing up with a team for this year’s walk.

So, thank you, Taylor (and the entire ALS Northwest team), for your compassion, dedication, and advocacy. Your work makes such a difference.🤩🙏

Recommending a credit union isn’t just about rates or accounts.

It’s about trust.
It’s about people.
It’s about feeling supported along the way.

A penny for your thoughts…

Today is National 1-Cent Day, so we’re celebrating the small but mighty penny, even as it quietly fades out of production. Honestly, we're still pretty fond of pennies around here. Did you know that every time you swipe your debit card, you help fund real impact in our communities? It's our Penny-per-Swipe program (and it doesn't cost you a thing). In 2025 alone, our members helped raise more than $150,000 in support of local schools, nonprofits, and community initiatives just by using their debit cards for everyday purchases. That’s the kind of impact we can get behind.

Today, we’re shining a light on one of our most meaningful (and most popular) volunteer opportunities for Maps employees: The Bite of Reality. 🙌

At our recent Central High School event, we asked a few of our volunteers why they show up—and what financial advice they’d give their high school selves. Their answers? Real, relatable, and rooted in experience. 💡

Thanks to all the volunteers who stepped up to help these students navigate real-life financial decisions, and thank you to everyone who continues to make Bite of Reality possible. 💙

🎓 Scholarships should help you move forward—not cost you money. If you encounter fees, pressure, or requests for sensitive info, that’s a red flag. 🚩 Pause, verify, and never pay to apply.

We are excited to finally announce the recipients of the 2026 Maps School Supply Grants! 📢

This year, more than 500 schools were nominated by our members—and that kind of support says a lot about the communities we serve. 💙

From those nominations, we randomly selected 20 schools (located in the communities served by our branch network) to each receive a $1,000 grant for school supplies through the Maps Community Foundation. 📚✏️

Thank you to everyone who participated—and congratulations to this year’s recipients! 🎉

It’s 3/14 at 1:59, which means it’s officially π time.

In honor of Pi Day, we’re serving up a few math jokes that are equal parts nerdy and delightful. So, enjoy a slice. Or a whole pie. 🥧🍕

At this month’s Donuts at the Dot, on Wednesday, March 4, we met Amber Holland and Natalie Hudson from The Reading Nest. ✨

Inspired by a love of books—and memories of not always having the funds for Scholastic Book Fairs—the founders of The Reading Nest set out to create a welcoming “third space” for readers of all ages. Today, they travel throughout our communities (particularly in Polk County), bringing books directly to the folks that need and want them.

With support from a recent $25,000 grant from the Maps Community Foundation, The Reading Nest is now working toward launching a bookmobile that will allow them to bring even more books into rural communities. The bus will also be wheelchair accessible, making it easier for everyone to enjoy the stories they share. :book:

The Reading Nest tagline says it best: “Where stories take us far.” So, thank you, Amber and Natalie, for sharing your story—and for the work you’re doing to bring books, joy, and opportunity to readers across our communities.

If you’d like to support Reading Nest, you can donate books or join their March Into Reading Challenge, a fun, March Madness–style fundraiser celebrating the power of stories.

Last week, we were proud to present a $25,000 grant to Church at the Park in support of their upcoming Workforce Development Kitchen, a 6,465 sq. ft. commercial kitchen at the Seymour Center adjacent to the CCS Family Shelter.

This program will create paid culinary training opportunities for young adults experiencing homelessness while helping prepare hundreds of meals each day for people staying in local shelters. Participants will gain job skills, mentorship, and credentials through partnerships with organizations like Chemeketa Community College—opening doors to both long-term employment and stability. 🍳💪

Church at the Park has spent nearly two decades creating pathways from crisis to stability for our neighbors in Marion and Polk Counties. And we’re grateful for the chance to support a project that strengthens both food security and economic opportunity in our community.

We can’t wait to see what this kitchen will make possible. ❤️
