Last year Americans spend over $50 billion on supplements last year alone! Many researchers are finding a link between sleep and dementia. Dr. Percy Griffin recommends in this article to get 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night to help your brain and overall health. People who regularly slept more than 9 hours per night were at a double risk for dementia.

New genes have been discovered to have a link with Alzheimer's. The researches compared 111,000 peoples genes with Alzheimer's compared to 677,000 peoples genes without the condition to help make this correlation. The researches also discovered a connection between the protein Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF-alpha) and Alzheimer's. They believe this will open doors to help develop new polytherapy's and someday new forms of personalized medicine to help treat Alzheimer's!

New research pinpoints 75 genes associated with Alzheimer's risk, 42 of which were previously unknown.

The FDA has been reviewing a new drug that might help slow the progression of ALS otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. In the small study they noticed that there was a 25% slowing of the disease compared to the placebo. This data shows promising results to help extend the lives of people who are suffering from ALS.

The FDA is reviewing a drug that has shown little evidence that it might help treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
