MONDAY AM WX UPDATE: As the most significant winter storm to affect Delaware, potentially in a generation, begins to pull away from the mid-Atlantic region, Sussex County Emergency Management reminds the public that the State of Delaware's Level III driving ban remains in effect until further notice. Roads, including main arteries, are impassable with abandoned vehicles, snow drifts, felled trees, and downed utility infrastructure. More than 56K customers are without power countywide. A shelter is open at Sussex Central Middle School, 26026 Patriots Way, near Georgetown. For non-emergency information, including sheltering information and assistance relocating, please call the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center's public storm line at (302) 856-7360.

***This is an old post. Please see our latest post for the most up-to-date storm information.***

Our entire area is now under a blizzard warning with the National Weather Service calling for up to two feet of snow in parts of Kent and Sussex Counties. The Weather Service says this could be a historic storm and widespread and extended outages lasting days are likely. Please make preparations now! Blizzard conditions may make restoration work impossible tonight through parts of the day tomorrow and 50+ mph winds and drifting snow will make roads impassable. We haven’t seen this type of storm since 2010. Please spend the rest of the day preparing and do not attempt to drive once the storm begins this evening! If you do lose power, please report your outage by calling 855-332-9090 or by visiting https://outagetrouble.delaware.coop.

As we prepare this week for what may be a large snowstorm, here are a few things to prepare to reduce the strain on emergency services so they can focus on true emergencies:
1. Make sure you have refilled any heating fuels prior to the weekend.
2. Stock enough water and non-refrigerated foods for several days in case of power loss.
3. Ensure you have proper equipment or have planned for somebody for clearing or moving snow from your property.
4. Make sure there is cold weather gear for everyone in the home. Should power go out for an extended period of time, even the interior of homes can cool down quickly.
5. Refill any needed prescriptions or medicines early.
6. Ensure devices remain charged or have the ability to recharge them without plugging them in to an outlet.

Our Jr. Merry Lane team are excited to present our Entertainment station, 89.7FM!!
Broadcasting during our Santa nights 🧑‍🎄

We will still have 90.1FM radio station for the singing reindeer, but 89.7FM gives another option where we will have music, jokes, information, and the nightly challenge for a prize.

Many thanks to both Kristin Leverage State Farm Agency and Heavenly Gates Pet Cremation for making this additional station possible!!! Giving our Jr. team a chance to provide even more fun for our guests on Merry Lane!

Happy Halloween! 👻 Beware of ghosts, witches, and werewolves alike walking/rolling this evening!

Drivers:
🎃 Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.
💀 Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.
🧟 Get rid of any distractions - like your phone - in your car so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings.
🥷 Turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.

Pedestrians/Trick-or-Treaters:
🧛🏻 Cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks. Look left, right and left again when crossing and keep looking as you cross.
🧞‍♂️ Put electronic devices down, keep heads up and walk, don’t run, across the street.
🦹 Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible.
🧚🏽‍♂️ Decorate costumes and bags with reflective tape or stickers and, if possible, choose light colors.

Thank you Drive-Thru Christmas on Merry Lane for all that you do-we’re so excited and grateful ♥️🎄
