Scranton BK5K

Scranton BK5K The annual BK5K, 5 kilometer road race and walk, is held to honor Bob Kierlin, founder of Fastenal Company and lifelong supporter of youth programs.

All proceeds go to various area youth organizations/programs demonstrating financial need.

The race location is at Nay Aug Park, 500 Arthur Ave, Scranton, PA 18510 which is shown on the map.

The race day schedule is as follows:
6:30-7:30 AM - Packet Pickup/Race Day Registration
8:00 AM - 5K Race / 1.5K Fun Walk Starts
8:30 AM - Post Race Grab & Go Breakfast
9:15 AM - Kids Fun Run Starts

25 years ago, Bob Kierlin started running with his 10-year-old daughter in road races. Despite often finishing in the last half of the pack, Bob’s love for running never wavered.

From there, the BK5K Road Race was born and Bob was able to start a community event to support youth.

Bob envisioned a road race in his name — one that celebrated every runner’s achievement. Not just the fastest, but everyone striving to outperform their personal best. 🏆

The BK5K now raises hundreds of thousands of dollars. These funds flow through a meticulous grant process, supporting local youth organizations and programs in financial need. Merit matters, and the BK5K Youth Fund Award Committee ensures impactful dispersal.

On race day, cash prize awards are given to the top 3 female & male finishers of the 5K race. Prize winners are welcome to accept the cash or donate it back to non-profit youth grants in the community.

Also, the group with the most participants at the race wins $1,500.

Not a runner? Walkers are highly encouraged to participate too! 😊
