"What if we waited too long?"
That thought hits at 2am, or in the middle of a regular Tuesday, or when your kid mentions college and you both just go quiet. It does not mean you failed. It means you care.
Most families in their 40s and 50s are not behind as far as they think. But not knowing is its own kind of weight. Once you actually sit down and look at the whole picture — what you have, what you need, what the gaps are — something shifts. The worry does not disappear, but it loses its grip.
That question deserves a real answer.
