It's been a rough February for would-be homebuyers. In less than a month, the average 30-year mortgage rate has leapt from just below 6% to nearly 7%. Stronger than expected economic data has the market worried that the Fed may take rates higher, and keep them there longer. But behind the scenes, inflation is already a lot lower than the official data, the real estate market is 'normalizing' and buyer activity is beginning to pick up.

Came across this article about “When is the right time to buy a house?” With an increase in interest rates and short supply it can be hard to know if you are making the right choice.

A couple quotes from the article.

“Identifying the perfect time to buy is impossible because perfect timing is clear only in retrospect.”

“You ought to be making this as a housing decision and not an investment decision,” he said. If you’re buying a house, he advised, it should be because you want to live in it for at least five years, and ideally many more”

There won’t be a perfect moment anytime soon—but that shouldn’t stop you if you’re ready.
