❄️ Winter Is Coming. Is Your Property Ready?

Cold weather can turn small maintenance issues into major property losses.

Before You File an Insurance Claim… Do These 4 Things

A loss happens. Your first instinct may be to call the insurance company and immediately open a claim.
But before you file, take a few minutes to understand what you’re dealing with.

1. Document the damage
Take photos and video before cleanup or repairs whenever it’s safe to do so.

2. Prevent further damage
Take reasonable steps to protect the property, and keep receipts for emergency expenses.

3. Review your policy
Know your deductible, applicable coverages, exclusions, and reporting requirements.

4. Understand the extent of the loss
What looks minor at first may involve damage you can’t immediately see.

Filing a claim starts a process. You should understand the situation before you start it.

The storm has passed. Now, don’t rush the recovery.

Another significant monsoon storm moved through the Phoenix Valley Wednesday night, bringing severe weather to communities across Maricopa and Pinal Counties. ABC15 reported on the storms throughout the evening, including severe thunderstorm watches, flood warnings and other weather alerts across the region.

For homeowners and business owners who sustained damage, the insurance claim and recovery process is now beginning.

And after multiple significant storms in a short period of time, insurance carriers, adjusters, contractors, roofers and restoration companies may all be dealing with increased demand.

Don't simply assume the process will take care of itself — but don't make rushed decisions either.

Document your damage thoroughly. Take reasonable steps to protect the property from additional damage. Read anything carefully before you sign it. And if you're hiring a contractor, roofer or restoration company, take the time to verify their credentials, reputation and experience.

Major storms inevitably bring people into affected neighborhoods offering their services. Many are legitimate professionals trying to help. Others may not be.

We’re grateful everyone was able to get out safely following this significant hotel fire in Phoenix.
