Do you know an athlete that has been offered NIL deals? What is their goal? As fresh, newly injected money comes their way, whose responsibility is it to point them in the right direction? Is it their family, who may not know the best course of action? Is it on the athlete to figure it out along the way? Is it on the school?
The worst thing to do is start divvying up the money for the new car, family vacations, jewelry, or house before discussing with a financial advisor. NIL money has a finite life span if you start spending it.
As a fiduciary, I am able to give them the direction necessary toward reaching financial goals.
