I have immense respect for the DIY entrepreneur.

Despite the incredible odds of failure, they have embarked on a journey up the treacherous entrepreneurial mountain.

Why? The pursuit of freedom to create prosperity for themselves and their families.

The fact is, 70 percent of the global workforce have a dream to become entrepreneurs. They want to do something that matters, something with purpose.

90 percent will fail unnecessarily. Why? Because doing it alone is lonely and ripe with obstacles.

Despite all the obstacles, they courageously push on.

But I have news for you. You don’t have to do this alone. God wants to co-create with you. He wants to partner with you. Before the beginning of time, He already had a plan for you. His plan.

And trust me, He makes the perfect partner. Why? He knows everything. He’s willing to share everything. The Creator created you with a plan to prosper you. His plans never fail.

But you have free will. God will force nothing on you.

The venture studio at CanaGlobal is a totally different experience than most imagine.

The mission is to ramp up each portfolio company to 10M in revenues, and then fund-to- scale to 100M, profitably.

When a venture reaches a minimum of 2M+ in revs, they are eligible for our studio.

Once in, we focus on these three areas:

#1 - Evicting all unbelief from a founder’s faith.

#2 - Identifying God’s call on the founder and venture.

#3 - Executing a RevOps blueprint.

To us, this is investor readiness. Our studio is a one-of-a-kind greenhouse for revenue growth.

We are total operators. We don’t sit on the sidelines coaching or giving out advice. We lead the charge. And we do the work, side-by-side with our founders.

We get our hands dirty. As an example, if we are building a business development team, we do the recruiting, we do the onboarding and training. Everything we do, we model for the founders.

For me personally as a Managing Partner, I’ve spent the past 23 years growing ventures in the studio. And prior to my work in the studio I spent 17 years building my own companies, pioneering some of the fastest growing industries in America.

We’re not betting on unicorns, instead we are planting orchards of oak trees.

We take what we've learned in the studio and share it with DIY entrepreneurs outside the studio. 90 percent of entrepreneurs fail unnecessarily — due to stupidity.

Before you get your drawers in a knot, let me explain.

First, the words stupid/stupidity are biblical words. God's.

I’ve made plenty of stupid decisions and I have no problem admitting “boy, that was stupid. I was stupid!”

>> Matt 7:26 AMP - And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them, will be like a foolish (stupid) man who built his house on the sand.

>> Proverbs 12:1 AMP - Whoever loves instruction and discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof and correction is stupid.

>> Proverbs 18:2 AMP - A [closed-minded] fool does not delight in understanding, But only in revealing his personal opinions [unwittingly displaying his self-indulgence and his stupidity].

Entrepreneurs have a low-deference ratio of about 10%. They are super-opinionated and slow to take advice. New ones think they know everything. At first that’s a good thing because despite the advice from the skeptics, wishful-thinking gives them the courage to go for it and start that business.

That’s good.

But when they lack results, rather than admit their way isn’t working, they double down on stupid. Why? Hubris. Pride. Stupidity.

>> El Stupido!

The scriptures say pride comes before the fall. From my view it’s fairly predictable.

But super-successful entrepreneurs, those with the results, have a mid-deference ratio of around 50%. They aren’t permanently married to any of their own ideas. If a vetted idea comes along, they’ll quickly drop their idea for the new one. They are connoisseurs of great ideas and have zero loyalty to any idea that doesn't work.

- When I was in my 20s, I didn’t have much business experience, I thought I knew everything and made plenty of stupid decisions. Looking back, I was swimming in stupidity.

- In my 30s I became less stupid.

- In my 40s, less and less.

You get the point. If you are a continuous learner, you get smarter with more experience. If you’re not a learner, you stay stupid.

If you stay stupid, you run out of cash and go out of business .

This year I’m 62 and in my 40th year as a faith-driven entrepreneur. When something isn’t working I ask God to show me how. He’ll either tell me how to fix the problem, or He’ll send someone with the right advice to follow.

>> You'd better believe I follow the advice.

It is better to listen to the rebuke of the wise man and pursue wisdom than for one to listen to the song of fools and pursue stupidity. (God).

Folks, let’s work smarter, stupid sucks!

To everyone who has decided to be set free through Jesus Christ, especially those in the entrepreneur space, Never Forget This.

We all know that God raised Jesus from the dead and set Him on the throne.

- We are there with Him
- He is in us
- We are in Him
- We (The Church) are His body
- We are one

He becomes we.

Jesus is in charge of running the universe, everything from running galaxies to governments. Now pay attention to this:

>> There is no power exempt from His rule. Understand your role in this!

Be intelligent (not stupid) and discerning. If you do not understand what’s happening around the world, you fall into the latter category. You won’t understand anything from watching the fake news. That’s for stupid people.

Know Jesus personally. When you do your eyes will be focused and clear, you’ll be able to see exactly what He is calling you to do.

This is the glorious and abundant life He has for all who not only believe, but for those who actually follow and trust Him. Big distinction here, even satan is a believer. (just not a follower)

He will fill you who execute your Kingdom assignments with endless energy and boundless strength. This is forever.

Jesus is in charge of everything and has the final word on everything. Not the secular global elites who hate God.

Christ rules the Church (us). We are Christ’s body in which He speaks and acts, by which He fills everything with His presence.

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Be and do what He created you to be/do before the creation of the world!

JESUS, will you hurry up!

When we get tired of waiting we often think or say something like this.

>> Sometimes it’s directed at a person.
>> Sometimes it’s directed at Jesus.

When it’s directed at Jesus, we know He has the power to do what we ask, yet doesn’t do it when we think He should.

Have you been there?

Let’s face it. We all have to wait on the Lord.

I’m 62. I’ve been praying to God for a long time for every part of my life.

- my walk with Him
- my calling
- my family
- me
- my finances
- my health
- my businesses
- basically for everything

In my life true to His Word He always answers my prayers. When I pray according to His biblical promises, His answer is always yes.

But rarely in my time frame.

The other thing that I’ve come to understand is that He is the one waiting on me. He’s pruning me so I can grow and do the greater things He has planned.

When I’m impatient with God’s timing, I’ve found myself trying to make things happen. No bueno.

The place where I’ve found perfect peace is trusting His timing, His plan, and cooperating with the Holy Spirit in the work He is doing inside me.

I’ve had to accept that He is preparing me, and I must trust Him to do so His way.

Ironically, God is usually waiting on me, not the other way around.

If I really trust God, I have to trust His timing no matter how uncomfortable I get.

The wait is only my growing pains. I'm pregnant with a promises and giving birth is painful.

But the wait is always worth it.

To grow B2B revenue profitably, set your focus on these 4 drivers. It's cruise control for revenue, set it and turn it on.

For revenue

#1 - The number of sales appointments required for every 1M in rev.

For profitability

#2 - Pricing
#3 - COGs (cost of goods sold)
#4 - Expenses

You become what you focus on, so keep it simple. For instance, in the venture studio we know exactly how many sales appointments are needed to drive every 10M in rev, profitability.

If the venture has a 60% win rate and the size-of-clients we are hunting will bring in a 200k a year spend, we know we need exactly 7 sales meetings a month to achieve the next 10M in rev.

To do it profitability, let’s say we have a 45% profit margin expectation, we keep our eyes glued on #2, #3, #4.

We don’t need good luck. Business is a science driven by math. We take the time to understand the math.

How do we land the 7 sales meetings a month? We install a RevOps blueprint that we follow. Simple.

Faith-Driven Founders, if you ever get to a place where you’re getting nowhere fast, do this.

>> First, realize this:

There is a great chance you’re not cooperating with the future God has planned out for you?

There is a future God is seeking to become a reality in your life, but you’ll have to learn how to cooperate with it.

If you don’t, you’ll end up building bridges that lead to nowhere, and when you get there, you’ll have created monuments of nothingness.

>> Humbly admit you don’t know how:

After-all , if you knew how, your future would be now. Most founders need a path, a method and a mentor to guide them. That’s the Holy Spirit. And oftentimes the Holy Spirit will bring a spirit-filled advisor into your life to help you up the entrepreneurial mountain.

But you’ll make zero progress until you can admit that what you are doing isn’t working because you simply don’t know how to make it work.

* Hubris keeps a founder from admitting this. So they continue to do what they do.

We all have a way of thinking, that produces a way of doing, that produces good or bad results. We call this our T.D.R. (Think. Do. Results.)

When you seek God, ask Him (give Him permission) to change your TDR. I do this all the time. In fact, I often ask the Holy Spirit to brainwash me. To wash me clean of all of Gerald’s ideas that simply won’t work and waste an enormous amount of time and energy.

Pain is what usually creates the hunger for this change. Unfortunately, the more stubborn you are, you build up a high-tolerance for pain, stuck surviving but never thriving.

If you want to co-create with God, you’ll have to learn to cooperate with Him.

Do you know what you want out of life?

You should.

If you don’t know what you want out of life, you’ll have a hard time creating the plan to get there.

Do you even know what “there” looks like? Do you know what the journey to “there” looks like?

Every year I lay out a vision of what my wife and I want to happen in our lives over the next 5-10 years. We paint a portrait of our vision by putting it in writing and counting the costs of having what we want. It becomes our dream, desires and goals.

We ask ourselves these questions:

#1 - If we had a magic wand, what would we change in our lives over the next 5-10 years?

#2 - What would we attempt to accomplish if we knew we couldn’t fail?

#3 - Then we adjust our plans to align.

So let me ask you these questions.

- What do you want out of life?
- Do you even know?
- Do you know the costs of having what you want?

Remember, the journey to “there” can and should be amazing.

This is what separates the top 1% from everyone else. Your life is too important to wing it!

Dream it. Do it.

Entrepreneurs, the moment you receive (by faith) God’s calling/assignment, you become what He has called you be.

This is now your identity no matter the state of your circumstances. This is now who you are. Not who you want to become, but who you are, right now.

Your future is now.

Let me explain. When God called Abraham to become the father of many nations, and Abraham received this call by faith, at that very moment He became the father of many nations — not 25 years later when Issac was born.

Do you see it?

That is the moment of conception. When you receive the idea backed by God’s promises. (all 6000 of them)

When a man and a woman come together to form a baby, the baby is conceived at the point of conception, not when the mother gives birth.

It’s the same with our calling. Your humble circumstances are only scenery along the journey.

Not everyone will get what I’m saying here, but for those of you who do, it will change how you move forward.

Your future is now. It’s in your spiritual DNA (FYI you are a spirit in a flesh body), it must move into your thinking and doing. When it does, you’ll give birth to the baby.

And for God’s sake, don't abort it.

I’ve dedicated my life to helping others reach their dreams.

Why?

Because Jesus gave His life so I could reach mine.

He makes this promise in John 10:10:

>> I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

Everyday, I do my part to help others. Everyday, Jesus does His part to help me achieve mine.

The more I sow my time, energy and financial resources into helping others, God is faithful to replenish my supply.

What I’m talking about here is the freedom to be generous. Instead of being a warehouse for your resources, be a distribution center.

Be like FedEx. As soon as something comes in the door, it goes out the other door.

Entrepreneurially, I’ve become a solution to someone else's problem.

Do you see it?

If you see it, you can be it. This is the abundant life!

Let’s face it entrepreneurs, in hindsight we do some stupid stuff.

Sadly, so many faith-driven founders say “God told me to do this or that.”

Then why did it bomb? Can God be wrong so often?

Maybe that voice in your head ain't God.

Let’s face it, we alone are responsible for the screwups, let’s quit blaming God.

When we do stupid things, that’s not God’s strategy, it’s ours. Let’s own it.

I get it, climbing the entrepreneurial mountain is hard.

But God is willing to give us the details of how to accomplish His assignments. It’s exactly what He did for King David when He built the temple, and for Noah and the ark, and Nehemiah and the wall.

What He did for them, He will do for us.

So how do you stop making the stupid mistakes?

#1 - When you co-create with the creator, make sure you are collaborating with Him before, during and after every day. Make meeting with Him the first meeting of every day. Spend an hour with Him. Make the time. Start reading the Word, it's the main way He will speak to you.

#2 - Ask God to send you mentors. With many God-sent advisors, your plans will succeed.

Entrepreneurs who do these two things will succeed wildly!
