The home buying process is both exciting and scary, especially with the pace of the current market. June is National Homeownership Month. If you’re looking to purchase but are hesitant because of the current market, know that you are not alone. It’s also important to know that your first home loan is not a forever loan and can be refinanced later on as rates and pricing level out, which I’m confident they will.

What information should you bring to the table when speaking with me or any lender when you’re looking to get Pre-Qualified for a new home loan you ask?

1. How soon are you looking to purchase? Are you working with a realtor and actively searching for properties or are you just beginning the process?

2. How much money do you have available right now for down payment and closing costs?

3. Are you a first time home buyer or have you owned a home before?

4. What is your payment expectation? Your monthly threshold? And what are you specifically looking for in a home?

There is a lot that goes into approving someone for a new home loan besides your FICO score and helping me understand your big picture and where you stand financially across the board really helps me determine what size loan you realistically can be approved for.
