Halloween is just around the corner! 🎃🍂

From spooky front porches to glowing jack-o’-lanterns, it’s that time of year when Halloween decorations start making their way out of storage!

Before you grab the ladder and start hanging those lights, here are a few simple safety tips to keep in mind:

🛠 Check your ladders. Make sure they’re sturdy, secure, and placed on level ground.

🛠 Watch for slippery steps. Add slip-resistant treads to porches and stairs where needed.

🛠 Keep walkways clear. Make sure decorations, cords, and other obstacles don’t become tripping hazards for trick-or-treaters.

🛠 Use the right lights. Choose outdoor-rated lights and extension cords, and check for damaged wiring before plugging anything in.

A little extra care goes a long way toward keeping Halloween fun and safe for everyone! 👻

Harvest season is underway across Indiana, and our farmers are hard at work bringing in the crops. As large farm equipment moves between fields, we’re reminding motorists to stay alert and share the road safely.

A few important tips from the Indiana State Police:
• Farmers will pull over when they can, but it may take time to reach a safe location.
• Please be patient—these machines are wide and may take up much of the roadway.
• Only pass when it’s both legal and safe. Never pass in a “No Passing Zone” or near intersections, railroad crossings, bridges, hills, or other limited-visibility areas.
• Make sure the equipment isn’t preparing for a left turn before passing. What looks like pulling over may actually be a turn in progress.
• Avoid tailgating. Farm equipment may need to stop suddenly.
• Allow extra travel time, stay alert, and avoid distractions.
