Good News for Homebuyers & Homeowners!
Federal housing programs are officially back up and running now that the government shutdown has ended. This means FHA, VA, USDA loans — and new flood insurance policies through NFIP (aka FEMA) — can resume again.
The shutdown caused stalled deals, delayed closings, and paused insurance renewals across the country. While everything is restarting, experts warn there’s a six-week backlog, so some delays may still happen as agencies catch up.
The new funding deal keeps the government open and extends NFIP authority through Jan. 30, 2026, and restores pay for furloughed federal workers.
