Yes, I need a kidney and I want to educate people about living donation to help save others as well. A living donor's health and wellbeing are always paramount before they are considered for being a donor. Initial health history, confidentially taken on a phone call, may immediately rule some on ineligible. Then, testing would be done, again to ensure the health of the donor. This can be arranged

to be done locally for the donor's convenience. Did you know that the donor is never charged, or is their insurance billed, for any of this testing? Did you know that, at most advanced transplant centers, the donor's blood type does not have to match their recipient's? Go here to find out how this works:

https://www.kidneyregistry.org/for-donors/i-know-someone-who-needs-a-kidney/paired-donation/

Did you know that there may be financial assistance for the donor's travel, lodging, and lost wages? Go here to find out more:

Some states, like NY, allow tax deductions for unreimbursed expenses and others have special arrangements for paid leave. It is also illegal for an employer to fire someone because of taking time off to be a donor.

I am home healing and doing better each day.

Healing from the surgery is a slow process. 3-6 months total. My new kidney is rocking it! I got very lucky that my new kidney went to work immediately, even my surgeon wasn't expecting it to do so well this quickly. My blood work is the best it has been in years. Thank you all for your caring and support.

Got my transplant for a deceased donor kidney yesterday. Surgeon told me today that this kidney is doing better than he expected. Got lots of healing to do yet. Doing pretty damn good considering that it has been less than 36 hours.

Got the call earlier this evening. At Hartford hospital. Kidney transplant scheduled for 5 AM.

Someday, with this new device, other people with my genetic kidney disease will not have to plead for help. Perfecting this device and successfully completing clinical trials won't happen in time to save my life. Please see if you qualify to be my living kidney donor.

Dialysis: completed initial training and now doing this at home. Next comes training for the dialysis cycler machine. This will keep me alive. Hopefully, a transplant donor will come forward and then I wouldn't have to do this multiple times a day.

It has been a tough month. My mom passed away July 24. My brother came up from FL to help clean out her apartment. I had surgery on 8/9 for the Peritoneal Dialysis catheter and have started training for home dialysis. It is starting to settle down a bit and I am keeping a positive outlook that will get a kidney. If any of you have or know someone with kidney failure then you know it is not easy but still possible if you keep moving forward.

Facebook was sending me notifications whenever someone shared my post about my search for a kidney donor. I was acknowledging each one to thank you. FB seems to have stopped notifying me. I am sorry that I can no longer do this individually. So, if you have, or are sharing, I am grateful, and thank you.
