-Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing
-Drink fluids regularly
-Avoid strenuous activity
-Watch for symptoms of heat-related illness

Hoosiers can also use cooling centers as a safe, air-conditioned place to escape the heat. Find a cooling center near you at on.in.gov/coolingcenters.

HELP PREVENT MOSQUITO BREEDING IN EAST CHICAGO! 🦟

This year the Mosquitos have been ready bad, and these are some things you can do to help prevent, so many being around your home.

With recent rainfall and an increase in standing water, we’re asking all East Chicago residents to do their part to help reduce mosquito breeding throughout our community.

Mosquitoes can breed in even the smallest amount of standing water. Take a few minutes to check around your home and property empty buckets, flowerpots, tires, toys, birdbaths, clogged gutters, and any other areas where water may collect.

Protect yourself and your family by using mosquito repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants when possible, checking window and door screens, and limiting prolonged outdoor activity around dusk and dawn.

Fall Shred-It Day is Coming!

Protect your personal information and clear out those old documents!

Join us Saturday, October 3, from 10 AM–12 PM at our East Chicago office for FREE community shredding!

While you're here, help us give back! We’ll also be accepting donations for our Fall Food Drive benefiting the Food Bank of NWI. Donations are not required, but highly encouraged!

A few Shredding Do's and Don'ts:
✅ DO bring: Paper, small paper clips, file folders & staples
❌ DON’T bring: Checkbooks (checks have to be torn out of the checkbooks), books/magazines, CDs/DVDs, floppy disks, batteries, plastic, cardboard or trash materials

Any items deemed not suitable for the shred truck will be returned to you.
