VA appraisal update coming May 1, 2026. Will make life easier for VA buyers and sellers.
Here’s the short version of what’s being circulated in the new guidance:
✅ NO more peeling paint repairs on homes built after 1978
✅ Sheds and outbuildings no longer have to meet their own minimum property requirements.
✅ NO more radon requirements for builders
✅ NO more oxygen depletion sensor or fireplace certification requirements.
That means fewer pointless repair conditions and a little more common sense in the VA process. We love to see veterans get an equal opportunity to purchase a home and this should help.

If you cosigned a loan, make sure you know the rules as well. Some collection efforts start May 5th!

The U.S. Department of Education announced its Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) will resume collections of its defaulted federal student loan portfolio on Monday, May 5th. The Department has not collected on defaulted loans since March 2020.
