A friend told me something yesterday that ruined my whole day (in the best way).

Her relative recently passed away. Left behind a life insurance policy she'd been paying into since the 1980s. FORTY YEARS. Nobody in the family even knew it existed.

The beneficiary? Still her ex-husband. The one she reportedly despised.

This man is about to cash a check he did absolutely nothing to earn, while the people who actually loved her get nothing. Somewhere out there, a man is about to have a payday and has no idea it's coming.

I told my friend, "This is exactly why you get someone who actually knows you to review your policy. Not just fill it out once and forget it exists for 40 years."
