Sting ‘Em Scorps! It’s going to be a great game!
BSN FRIDAY NIGHT SPOTLIGHT: SATELLITE (5-0) VS PALM BAY (2-3) Satellite High School | 7:00 PM | 🎥 LIVE on BSN YouTube
This is the kind of game that drips with storylines, history, and pressure.
Satellite is the last unbeaten team standing in Brevard County, and they’ve built that perfect record on a formula that wins everywhere, defense, discipline, and just enough offensive firepower.
Palm Bay rolls into Satellite Beach looking for redemption after a loss to Melbourne in the Battle for Babcock, but this isn’t just another matchup. This is Dan Burke vs. the Pirates. A coaching reunion steeped in championships, legacy, and pride.
SATELLITE SCORPIONS (5-0)
Still perfect. The Scorpions have outscored opponents 146–34 this season, pitching two shutouts and allowing just 6.8 points per game.
Their offense is averaging 29 points per game and it isn’t flashy, but it’s brutally efficient.
Brody Grennan has thrown 7 touchdown passes, Logan Waite gives them a between-the-tackles hammer, and wideouts Noah Corriveau and Alex Batallas can stretch the field.
Satellite’s defense? Relentless. They’re suffocating teams at the line, closing space in the secondary, and making every possession feel like a chore.
When you hold opponents to a touchdown or less in four of five games, you’ve built a real identity. And for Dan Burke, that’s the ultimate validation: tough, accountable football.
PALM BAY PIRATES (2-3, 0-1 DISTRICT 3A-8)
The Pirates’ season has been an expected roller coaster.
They’ve shown flashes — the 34–18 win at Cocoa Beach, the 13–0 shutout at Bayside — but the losses, like the one last week, have been learning experiences.
Still, they’ll need to clean some things up and can’t afford to give up the 31 points the unit is allowing per game and expect the offense to match against the Scorpions’ aggressive defense.
But don’t write the offense off. Quarterback Byron Thompson (Sr.) is dangerous with both his arm (293 passing yards, 233 rushing yards) and his legs, while Caden Newton is averaging 112.3 total yards per game with 5 total touchdowns.
Blaze Brown and Dorian Beauchamp give Palm Bay balance in the backfield, and young wideout Tim Sedaros (So.) is emerging as a reliable target.
Defensively, Palm Bay has been led by Billy Brown (25 tackles), Brennis Jordan (2 TFL), and Aaron Messenger (2 sacks). They’ve forced just two interceptions all year, but they’ll need takeaways to keep this one close.
COACHING STORYLINE: BURKE VS. PALM BAY
You can’t script this better. Dan Burke, the winningest coach in Brevard County history (255 wins, 2 state titles, 14 district championships, 10 regional finals), built Palm Bay into a dynasty from 1996 to 2019.
Now, in his first year at Satellite, he stares across at his old program, a place where he raised trophies, mentored Brevard legends, and built a legacy that earned him a spot in the FACA Hall of Fame.
Across the sideline is Kevin Mays, a Palm Bay alum and championship-winning assistant under Burke who’s carved his own impressive path: a 102–51 career record, seven district titles, two Final Fours, and a reputation as a program rebuilder.
Mays knows Burke. Burke knows Mays. Mentor vs. protégé.
KEYS TO THE GAME
Satellite: Stay disciplined. Don’t let Palm Bay’s athleticism create chaos. Grennan must avoid turnovers, and the defense must continue to suffocate first downs.
Palm Bay: Control tempo. Newton and Thompson need to pound out drives, shorten the game, and keep Satellite’s defense on the field. Defensively, force Grennan into mistakes and steal possessions.
X-Factor: Emotions. Palm Bay players will want this for their school. Satellite players will want this for Burke. Whoever harnesses that fire without losing discipline wins the night.

BSN SAYS
This isn’t just a football game — it’s a collision of eras. The program Burke built is facing the program Burke now leads. Satellite is disciplined, efficient, and riding a wave of confidence. Palm Bay is gritty, athletic, and desperate for a statement.
For Palm Bay, a win resets everything and puts them back on track in district play.
For Satellite, a win proves they’re not just unbeaten — they’re unshakable. Under the lights in Satellite Beach, with history dripping from both sidelines, expect four quarters of emotion, physicality, and fire.
This one feels personal — because it is.
