With the U.S. Department of the Treasury stopping the production of pennies — with the nickel expected to follow suit — SCFCU has made a small but important change to how loose coin is handled in our branches.

We’re not removing access to coin but adjusting our process to align with the changes already happening nationally. This slight change is being made with our members in mind — and SCFCU’s commitment to fairness, transparency and member value remains the same it’s always been.

Gardening season is here! 🪴🌷

Last week, SCFCU executives and employees, in partnership with the Sartell Community Center and its Little Learners Garden Program, planted vegetables and more at the St. Cloud Financial Credit Union Sprout Community Garden in Sartell.

This program includes kids between the ages of 3-4 years old, and has the goal of incorporating storytelling with gardening. We can't wait to see what the garden produces! 🥒🌶️🫜

During Becker Public Schools' Scholarship Night last week, St. Cloud Financial Credit Union proudly presented a scholarship to Becker High School senior, Chloe, who plans to pursue a college degree in the financial sector.

Chloe was awarded the scholarship in part due to actively volunteering in the community and the leadership characteristics she has exemplified through her activities at Becker High School.

SCFCU is proud to support local youth, their education and career aspirations in this form and in many other ways, including with youth and student accounts, financial wellness and much more.

We wish you the best of luck, Chloe, and good luck to all graduating seniors on their future endeavors beyond high school!

Now, starting August 1, recently signed legislation will allow Minnesota state-chartered banks and credit unions to offer regulated cryptocurrency custody services — creating safer, more trusted options for consumers while helping local institutions remain competitive in the evolving financial landscape.

Innovation matters. But so does keeping resources, opportunities, and financial growth rooted right here in our local communities. And SCFCU is proud to have contributed in shaping those conversations in Minnesota.

A local banker told CoinDesk that in light of Wall Street’s aggressive push into the crypto industry, Minnesota's financial institutions could not afford to remain on the sidelines.
