This business isn’t 9 to 5… and neither am I.

Nights. Weekends. Early mornings.

If my clients or agents need me, I’m available. Sometimes it’s a borrower who just received a denial and doesn’t know where to turn. Sometimes it’s an agent who needs answers before writing an offer. Sometimes it’s a complicated file that needs someone willing to dig in and find another way.

I’m not saying this to prove I work harder than anyone else. It’s just who I am and what I signed up for.

It’s all about helping the person who thought no one could get it done still never gets old. The hard files. The late calls. The wins nobody sees coming. That’s the work I love.

Most people right now are reacting to the headline. The opportunity is sitting one layer underneath it.

Here’s what I’m actually seeing on the files crossing my desk. Sellers are still negotiating. Buyers are still getting concessions that bring their closing costs down and keep cash in their pocket at the table. The deals are there… they’re just not landing in the laps of the people waiting for a headline to tell them it’s safe.

This market isn’t rewarding the cookie-cutter approach anymore. It’s rewarding strategy. Creativity. A little patience, and somebody who knows how to structure a deal instead of just process one.

So no, this is not a time to panic. It’s a time to be intentional.

If the noise has you frozen, that’s usually the tell that you’re working off the headline instead of the math. Let’s look at your actual numbers and build from there.

A little over a year ago, I had a conversation with Mike Benton.

His energy, passion, faith, vision, and heart were contagious.

What I’ve come to appreciate even more over time is that Mike is exactly who he says he is.

In a world full of people who talk about leadership, faith, family, and culture… Mike lives it.

He’s a visionary. The guy who sees possibilities long before everyone else does.

But what makes him special isn’t his vision.

It’s his heart.

Mike genuinely cares about people. He believes in them. He invests in them. He sees potential in people before they see it in themselves.

He’s the first leader I’ve worked with who truly saw my value and trusted me to do what I do best. He gave me the confidence to step into my strengths and never tried to make me fit someone else’s mold.

What I respect most is that he puts action behind every word.

If he tells you he’s going to do something… he does it.

If he says people matter… they do.

If he says relationships come first… they do.

If he says faith and family are his foundation… one look at how he loves his beautiful wife and daughter tells you everything you need to know.

This week was another reminder of that. Without being asked, he stepped in to help me get answers I needed. Not because it was his responsibility. Not because there was anything in it for him.

Simply because that’s who he is.

Leaders like that are rare.
