Waiting just five years to start investing could cost you almost $600,000 by retirement.

A 25-year-old who invests $500/month at an 8% average annual return could grow their account to more than $1.7M by age 65.

Start at 30 with the same monthly investment and average annual return? About $1.1M.

Same monthly investment. Five-year difference.

Time is one of your greatest assets when building financial independence. The best time to start was yesterday—the next best time is today.

The agents who win aren’t always the loudest or most naturally gifted.

After training 100+ new agents, I’ve learned success comes down to three things:

1. Be coachable.
2. Stay disciplined when motivation fades.
3. Believe deeply in the people you’re helping.

Humility, consistency, and heart will take you further than talent alone.

You could be a hardworking professional, make good money, max out your retirement account… and STILL not be on track to retire when you want.

Here are 3 retirement mistakes that could cost you years of your life:

#1 — You don’t know your Financial Independence Number.

You’re saving money… but how much do you actually need?

$500K? $1 million? $2 million?

If you don’t know the number you’re trying to reach, how do you know if you’re winning?

#2 — You don’t know how much you should be contributing every month.

Your employer’s recommended contribution isn’t necessarily YOUR number.

Your income.
Your age.
Your retirement goal.
Your timeline.

They all matter.

#3 — You don’t know the minimum average annual return your money needs to earn.

This is where most people completely lose the plot.

Because there are only so many levers you can pull:

Save more. Work longer. Or earn a better return.

And if you don’t know which lever you need to pull, you’re basically hoping the math works out.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth:

Working hard isn’t a retirement strategy.

Knowing your numbers is.

You don’t need to predict the future.

But you DO need to know what has to be true financially for you to retire on your terms.

Comment “RETIRE” if you want to know what numbers you should be looking at.

Every hardworking professional making contributions to a 401(k) at work needs to avoid these three mistakes.

The “lone wolf” mindset is one of the biggest lies in finance.

You’re not supposed to master investments, insurance, retirement planning, prospecting, operations—and everything else—by yourself. That’s not independence. It’s a fast track to burnout and mediocre client service.

The advisors who build lasting, successful businesses know how to collaborate. They find people whose strengths complement their own, focus on what they do best, and grow together.

If you’re considering a career in this industry, don’t just look for a job. Look for a team.
