Did you know that one in seven drivers is uninsured, according to a 2023 Insurance Research Council survey?

Given how many uninsured drivers are on the road, it’s important for all Americans to know what to do in the event of an accident involving an uninsured driver.

With that in mind, we’re sharing an overview today of key steps:

🚓 Call the Police - A police report is essential when filing an insurance claim.
🪪 Exchange Information - Collect any details the other driver can provide, like their address and phone number.
📷 Take Photos - Document the damage to your vehicle as long as it's safe to do so.
📝 Document Everything - Note down everything about the incident, including VIN numbers and license plates.
🤐 Be Mindful of Your Words - Anything you say can be noted in the police report. Avoid admitting fault.
💵 Decline Any Cash Offers - Accepting money on the spot can complicate your ability to pursue further claims.
📩 File a Claim Promptly - Don't delay in starting the claims process.
