When you’re deployed, every part of your pay matters.

Take a few minutes to review your Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) so you fully understand what your combat pay includes and how it adds up.

If you could sit down with your 2016 self, what financial advice would you give?

Life can look a lot different over the course of a decade. Careers evolve, families grow, priorities shift, and financial goals change along the way. Maybe ten years ago you were focused on paying off debt or buying a home. Today, your attention may be on retirement and growing your savings.

As you start the week, take a moment to think about where you're headed and whether your financial decisions are supporting that mission.

As a former Navy WAVE, Women's Equality Day feels a little personal.

When I joined the Navy in 1974, I wasn't thinking about equality or breaking barriers. I was looking for an opportunity to serve, learn, and build a future. Over the next 20 years, I had the privilege of serving alongside strong women who wanted the chance to do meaningful work and do it well.

Today, as a financial advisor, I see that same spirit in many of the women I meet. They're taking ownership of their financial futures, asking good questions, and making decisions with confidence.

Progress often happens one opportunity, one conversation, and one generation at a time. I'm grateful to have witnessed it from both sides of my career.

Have you finished a summer home project or made a few upgrades around the house?

A new deck, updated kitchen, finished basement, and home security system can all affect your homeowner's insurance, in some cases, may even help lower your premium.

If you made some changes around the house this summer, take a quick look at your homeowners' policy. Your updates could mean your coverage needs a refresh, too. One more thing to check off the list before summer is officially over.

PCS season may be winding down, but the financial adjustments don’t stop when the boxes are unpacked.

A new duty station can mean a different BAH rate, different housing costs, and a different monthly budget. Moving to a higher-cost area? You may need to adjust your spending. Moving somewhere less expensive? That could create room to redirect some of your housing allowance.

Before you settle into the new routine, take the time to run the numbers and see how the move affects your overall financial picture. New location, new numbers, new opportunity to revisit your plan.
