It's one of the most frustrating things to see: a renewal notice with a higher premium, even though you haven't filed a single claim. It feels personal, but it usually isn't.
Insurers adjust rates for reasons far beyond your individual driving or claims record. Rising construction and repair costs mean it costs more to fix cars and rebuild homes than it did a year ago, so replacement cost coverage adjusts to match. Statewide claims trends, more severe weather events, and even changes in your credit-based insurance score can all move your premium, regardless of what you personally did.
Insurers also periodically reprice entire regions based on updated risk data, which can affect everyone in an area at once, not just people who filed claims.
None of this means your policy is wrong. It just means a premium increase is worth a quick conversation, not just an automatic renewal.
