The cost of bail can vary from case-to-case. Below is a description of the factors that can influence the cost of bail and what you can do about it.

What Influences the Cost of Bail? Several things! Severity of the crime, financial state of the defendant, and a lot more.

When you bail someone out of jail you’re doing them a huge favor. Being out on bail allows a defendant to continue to attend work and/or school, helping to prevent a loss of income or progress, and to focus on finding legal counsel to represent them in court. It’s also far, far less stressful and enjoyable to await one’s day in court in the comfort of their own home rather than in jail.

It’s well-known that the right to bail is granted by the 8th Amendment of the US Constitution. However, in certain circumstances that right can be revoked. One of the more common reason for the courts denying someone their right to bail is that they pose a perceived risk to the community. A person whose crimes are heinous and it is believed they will continue to commit them will seldom be let out on bail.

Can Bail Be Reinstated Once Revoked? Yes! But a motion to reinstate must be filed and there's no guarantee that the courts will agree.

This is the procedure during which arrestees have their photographs taken, fingerprints recorded, and a comprehensive national background check is conducted. Once all of that is complete, bail is set for those who are eligible and it is possible to secure their release via bail bond.

The term Jack-o’-the Lantern referred to ignis fatuus, lights that would appear over swampy marshes that had no apparent cause. Will-0′-the Wisp is another folk term used to describe these lights. The eponymous “Jack” in Jack-o’-the-Lantern was said to be an 18th century blacksmith nobody liked because he was mean-spirited. It was said that Jack tricked the Devil and was given an ember straight out of hell to light his lantern as he wanders the earth alone for all of eternity.

Happy Halloween!
