Is buying a home risky?
If the past 30 years repeat, a “typical” 3 bed / 2 bath in L.A. could easily be in the $3.5M–$4M range by 2050.

Here’s the logic:
Today’s ballpark: Median listing price in L.A. County is around $850,000 as of 2026.

A realistic long‑term L.A. appreciation rate (based on the last ~30 years) is 5.5%–6% per year.
If the same pace continues, home prices roughly triple to quadruple over the next 24 years.

An $850k “typical” 3 bed / 2 bath today would likely land around $3.1M to $3.45M by 2050.

Huge caveats: this assumes no major regime change—same kind of long‑run appreciation, no massive tax/land‑use shock, no Japan‑style stagnation, etc. But if you just extend the last 30 years forward, that’s the range you land in.
