Hi my name is Martie O. Anderson I have been a mortgage lender for 30 years. Although the mortgage industry is much different today than when I first started my philosophy has remained the same, treat each customer like I am going to be working for them for life not just on one mortgage. This is why customer education and remaining abreast of product changes and new programs is of vital importance to me.

RED ALERT: AB 736, a transfer tax bill currently moving through the California Legislature, could significantly increase the taxes homeowners pay when they sell their homes. This issue matters to every homeowner in California. Please urge your legislators today to vote NO on AB 736.

AB 736 would allow local governments to increase transfer taxes on home sales far beyond what most Californians pay today. For example, for a home that sold for $900,000, the tax could increase from roughly $1,000 today to as much as $13,500 or even $27,000 in some cases.

For many homeowners, that money would come directly out of the equity they have worked for years to build. Whether you're planning to buy, sell, or remain in your home for years to come, policies like AB 736 that increase housing costs will affect all Californians.

Marian Croak — the mind behind foundational technology powering Zoom, FaceTime, and WhatsApp — has been inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of history's most influential innovators. With more than 200 patents to her name, her contributions to voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) technology fundamentally reshaped how the world communicates.

Croak's early work in VoIP laid the groundwork for the video and voice calling technology that billions of people now use every single day without ever thinking twice about the engineering behind it. Long before remote work and video calls became part of everyday life, her innovations were quietly building the infrastructure that made all of it possible.

Her induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame is a recognition not just of technical brilliance, but of decades of work that has had an immeasurable impact on global communication. Marian Croak didn't just invent technology — she helped redefine how the world stays connected.
