Are you saving? If so, what for? Do you have a goal in mind, or saving for the sake of saving?

We have a savings account with different goals we can set. 1 is for our emergency fund (EF). 2 is for household projects. 3 is for a particular organization my husband is active in.

We just ran our taxes and find that our emergency fund may end up being diminished by Uncle Sam. We aren't panicking though, because we have a decent EF!

I'm at home much more now and we have an antenna. I have so many questions!

I'll start with a home warranty on top of regular home insurance.

What is this?! Why?!

I have always been hard on myself about not having enough in or saving enough for my emergency fund. I've had to give myself a little grace after being furloughed a few years back. I had always heard you should have 3-6 months of your living expenses readily available in a liquid emergency fund. I don't know about you, but that works out to be a pretty daunting number, even for our little family of 3.

And then, someone (Kelsa Dickey at Fiscal Fitness Phoenix) shared the simplest of viewpoints that had never actually occurred to me...if you should happen to have to go into emergency mode due to a loss of income, you are likely not going to continue spending as you have in the past. 💡

Think about those expenses you are accustomed to having that could easily (or even painfully) fall by the wayside if the purse strings had to be tightened. Everything from subscription boxes to the cable bill, salon, and insurances could and should be considered. I know I've done some serious reviews in the last few weeks. And that 3-6 month figure is a LOT less cold-sweat-inducing than my original calculation!
