Prescription Changes Phase In Over Several Years. The Inflation Reduction Act has some good news for Medicare drug prices, but they will take years to phase in. Perhaps the best new, that you can take advantage of today is Mark Cuban’s new Lo Cost Pharmacy and discount cards like GoodRx, Singlecare and GlixRx. While none of those work together with your Part D plans, they often offer lower prices than your drug insurance.

The increase is 8.7 % for everyone drawing any type of Social Security benefit. YOU DONT HAVE TO APPLY for it or do anything. Scammers are calling people to “verify” their Social Security to get the increase. Beware!

If you use an insulin pump, it’s covered under your Medicare Part B. On a Medicare Supplement plan, once you’ve met your deductible, you might think your pump and supplies are “free” but they are covered by Part B. The new Omnipod has no tubes and is a great improvement over a traditional pump but beware! It is covered under Medicare Part D as a Tier 4 drug and may cost you thousands of dollars out of pocket. Before you ask your doctor for the new device, talk to us about the cost.

The Annual Election Period lasts from October 15th – December 7th, and any changes made occur on January 1st. This time frame is different than from a few years ago, so don’t forget about that and think you can change all the way up to December 31st because you can’t.
