What Is Commercial General Liability Insurance?
One essential protection for employers large and small is commercial general liability (CGL) insurance. CGL covers the cost of claims when a business is sued by someone for bodily injury, property damage or advertising injury.
What CGL covers
CGL covers many of the liability situations most companies encounter during their normal business activities. Coverage includes medical, property, legal, compensatory and punitive damages you must pay if you are found legally responsible for:
• Bodily injury and property damage, including emotional distress and mental trauma. CGL covers injury and damages that occur on your business premises, as a result of your operations, or from work done by an employee off-site. For example, if an electrician you employ causes a short in a customer’s wiring and there is a fire, a CGL policy would cover the claim.
• Medical expenses for someone other than an employee who is injured on your property. You don't need to be sued to file a medical claim. Coverage is provided on a no-fault basis and includes hospital and ambulance expenses, and even funeral expenses if someone dies from an injury on your property or from your operations. (Employees who are injured at your workplace are covered by workers' comp.)
• Personal and advertising injury. CGL policies also cover copyright infringements, libel and slander, invasions of privacy, wrongful evictions, false arrests, use of another company’s intellectual property and misleading advertising claims.

WILDFIRE COVERAGE
Did you know there are 4.5 million U.S. homes at high or extreme risk for wildfires? If you live in wildfire country, do you know how to reduce your risk? And if a wildfire occurs, are you prepared to navigate a claim?

Insurance companies use drones and AI to inspect roofs, capturing detailed, high-resolution imagery without sending an inspector up a ladder. This allows insurers to quickly check for deferred maintenance like lifted shingles or mold. This is becoming more and more common, which can result in a notification from your insurance company about requiring repairs, debris removal or replacement to remain insured. What can you do?
If your insurer drops your coverage or demands costly roof repairs based on a drone inspection, homeowners are encouraged to take the following steps
1. Get a second opinion: Hire a licensed local roofing contractor to perform a manual, certified roof inspection.
2. Review state laws: Research your local regulations, as many states require insurance companies to provide written notice of non-renewal (often 30 to 60 days) and give homeowners time to cure defects.
3. Keep maintenance records: Document any recent roof repairs or maintenance, as this proof can be submitted to your insurer to dispute flawed drone/AI claims

• You can install this versatile addition to your home yourself.
Install a ceiling fan in your home
The following will walk you through the steps of installing a ceiling fan yourself. However, always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for specific details related to your fan model.
1. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Use a voltage tester to ensure the power is completely off.
2. Measure the room. Ensure that the fan size is appropriate for the area. Place the fan so it is centered in the room for optimal air circulation.
3. Remove the nuts and screws that keep the unit secured. Detach the fan.
4. Disconnect the wires. Twist off the plastic connectors at the ends.
5. Check the junction box and brace. Ensure that it’s rated for a ceiling fan and can support extra wiring and weight. The rating is typically found on the outside of the junction box.
6. Attach the fan mounting bracket to the junction box. Ensure it is secure and level.
7. Install the fan mounting bracket. Depending on the type of bracket, you’ll need to either slide the bracket on and tighten the mounting screws or position it over the mounting bolts and fasten down with the nuts.
8. Check the height. Depending on the height of your ceiling, you’ll either install a fan with a downrod or flush mount feature.
9. Attach the fan motor to the mounting bracket.
10. Connect the fan wires. Use the corresponding wires in the ceiling (typically black to black, white to white, and green or bare copper to the ground wire). Use wire nuts to secure the connections.
11. Attach the fan blades to the motor. If your fan includes a light kit, connect the wiring and attach the light fixture.
12. Tighten all screws and connections.
13. Turn on the power. Test the fan to ensure that it is operating correctly and is balanced.
