🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

Folks, we’ve got a new one making the rounds, so listen up.

We’ve received reports of citizens getting phone calls from someone claiming to be a deputy, insisting you need to pay money to bond a family member out of jail. Let’s put this to rest right now: no deputy from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office will ever call you to collect bond money. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

If you get a call like this, hang up immediately. Do not share personal information, and do not send money. Do not go to Walmart to buy prepaid credit cards of any kind for payment. Then call us at the Sheriff’s Office so we can document it.

Scammers are persistent, but so are we. Stay sharp, trust your gut, and don’t let anyone push you into a panic.
