It seems everyone is receiving large premium increases this year. Understanding why can be the key to saving your company money. Here are three common reasons you are seeing a large renewal:

1. Smaller, higher-risk pools: As premiums rise, younger and healthier people may drop coverage, leaving an older, less healthy group of enrollees and pushing premiums even higher.

Open Enrollment season is coming up quickly. This means NOW is the perfect time to start reviewing your policies. Here are some dates to remember:

Groups: Most carriers require 30-60 day notice if you are canceling or starting a new policy. Start earlier than you think so that you have time to make a change if needed.

Marketplace Individuals: Open Enrollment start Nov. 1st and ends December 15th. You can start gathering your questions, 2027 income information and be on the lookout for emails from your broker.
