As an employee, it is important you know your rights and labor laws.
The law requires that if you work over 8 hours a day and or if you work over 40 hours a week, you are paid OT. There is no “authorization” required.
If asked to work overtime without overtime pay, the company is going against labor laws.
As an employer, do not do this. You are opening yourself up to a lot of legal issues and fines.

I can honestly say, today has been a GOOD DAY!
I got a LOT done!
All my clients' 1099's are filed!
And I have a couple new AMAZING clients, who I know I'm going to love working with!
OH did I mention I also set up my workspace so I now have not 1, not 2 but THREE Monitors!
YAY!

MLK had a dream! Through courage and conviction, he changed to face of our country and the lives of so many!

What Dreams do you have?
What could you change having the courage and conviction he did?

We as mere mortals(unlike MLK), do not need to change the world or even our country!
It's enough to change the world for one just person!
Knowing you made a difference is the most fulfilling, exhilarating, amazing feeling there is!
There have been many times where a potential client has reached out and you can actually feel the weight of the world on their shoulders, just through their words.

Maybe their books are a mess, they don't know where they stand financially, they are losing money, and the worst of all? The dreaded letter from the IRS or some government agency.

The feeling I had the day he came to me and told me how much what I did for him meant to him? How he can finally see the future and a light at the end of a very dark tunnel? Honestly, I don't even have words to explain.

My dream may have been to start my Bookkeeping firm so I could support my family. But that dream is making a difference, EVERY DAY in the lives of other people!
What could be better!?

Today I had one of my geek moments!
YES, I can be a total geek sometimes! 🤓

So lately, I have been facinated with a program called Zapier!
If you don't have it you HAVE to check it out.
It helps you automate ALL kinds of things!
So Today I was so excited because I created my first ZAP! 😍

So if you know me, you know I am allergic to the camera!
Today I took part in the LinkedIn Influencer Summit 2022 because I'd really love to learn how to use LinkedIn more effectively!
Well, then THIS happened!
One of the presenters decided she was going to pull two people into the screen to "sit" with them.
When she said my name. I was TERRIFIED! I kept typing NO NO NO!
But she did anyway!
Yes, I was nervous
Yes, I was still terrified!
I had no make-up, in my PJ and here I was live on screen for about 500 people to see!(Me on the bottom right! Thankfully the sun in my room made me a bit fuzzy)
But OMG I had so much fun!
I am so glad she didn't take my no for an answer!
Do I have a point to this whole story?
I do!!
Trying new things can be downright terrifying!
Both in our personal lives and our professional lives!
But if you don't try new things, you will never have the feeling that I have right now of I CAN DO THIS!
It was exhilarating! So just DO IT! TRY!

Its officially tax season!! 💸
The IRS officially rang the bell today by sending out an announcement that they will begin accepting Individual tax returns on Monday, January 24th! 🔔
What does this mean for you?
It means, its time to get ready!

Q. Can I file my taxes on the 24th if I haven't received all W-2's 1099's and other documents yet?
A. No. You should wait until you have all of the information before you start filing.

Q. How long do I have to file my taxes?
A. The IRS has placed a deadline of April 18th for most individual filers.

Like anything else, the key is preparation!
Don't get caught behind the 8 ball! 🎱
Make sure your books are in order and all of your tax documentation is together!

This year there have been a lot of changes to how income is treated by the IRS, especially when it comes to independant contractors, sole proprietors and third party merchant services, so keep that in mind!
