People perceive Realtors as the gatekeepers to Real Estate and they are nothing more than glorified Used Car salesmen who hide behind their bs of ethics and accreditations from merely taking an exam. COUNCIL TUESDAY NIGHT: There will be a discussion Tues. night 6/16 at Council (near the end of the agenda) of the apartments at Cape's Camp and what the city is doing to determine how the long dam-like piles of dirt along River Road and the incomplete drainage system at the apartments affected the severe flooding of Blanco Gardens neighborhood (all the houses between Highway 80 and the apartments). We are also waiting to hear what GBRA and other officials determine about the elevation of this flood in the Blanco River near San Marcos. We heard that the rainfall event in the Blanco and Boerne area was about a 150-year rainfall event, and an estimation of Blanco River flows upstream of San Marcos was about 2,223 cfs. If that is true, the flood was twice the volume of 1998. But I know landowners downstream in Staples who marked flood levels for the past 100 years on their buildings, and they report that the recent flood there was only 5 inches higher than 1998. Whatever conclusions the city and GBRA come to, we are going to want to double check their calculations with photos, video and measurements that we've also made around River Road and the apartments, and our own LIDAR topo maps. If it is not raining Tuesday afternoon, there will be another 4:30 to 6 p.m.tailgate with hot dogs and chips at the city hall parking lot for those who are coming to the Council meeting again, like the gathering before the last Council meeting two weeks ago.

If ur property has been flooded, ur lease has not terminated, contact mgt company or landlord to arrange immediate repairs and damage estimates...again. the Owner is responsible for repairs but not lost personal items. Renters insurance should cover that. Thanks to Lisa Marie Coppoletta for the info.

After absorbing the conditions in the central texas area weather wise, I wanted to remind the rental community about renters insurance. If u r renting an apartment,duplex, mobile home, house etc. And that property is flooded, the landlord or management company is NOT responsible for replacing ur personal belongings. Obtaining renters insurance would cover u under flooding. Average cost is $15 a month. Ur car insurance provider should have this option. Gotta get it myself.
