Here are four things to consider before buying a hybrid:

1. Used Cars Offer Better Values
If you can't afford a new hybrid, consider buying a used one. Like all cars, hybrids begin losing value as soon as they're driven off the lot

2. Fuel Efficiency Varies Among Drivers

3. You May Get a Tax Break
Newly purchased plug-in hybrids may be eligible for a federal income tax credit

4. Insurers May Give You a Discount

Are you thinking about doing some home renovations? 👷🏽Avoid these common mistakes:

1. Setting an unrealistic budget - Renovations often cost more than expected. Build-in an extra 20% to your budget to be better prepared for any surprises.

2. Being too trendy - Fresh, updated looks are great, but consider resale value, too. Trends are short-lived, while good design lasts forever. Don’t hesitate to consult a designer if you have questions.

3. Buying cheap material - Select durable, high-quality materials that you won’t need to replace within in a few years. Building materials aren’t the place to economize.

4. Not consulting professionals - Consulting architects or designers to fine-tune your plans is invaluable in terms of spotting issues you may have overlooked. These professionals can help make your plans more functional and efficient.

5. Not doing the prep work - Doing a project right the first time requires preparing properly, whether that means re-taping, spackling and priming walls before painting or doing structural work before re-flooring. Doing it now saves time and money later.

🔥 Fire Season 🔥 If you anticipate evacuation orders due to wildfire, there are several things you can do to prepare your home before you leave:

1. Shut off gas supply to your home or propane tank(s). It’s standard practice by emergency response to shut off the gas supply to prevent feeding a fire. Doing so yourself reduces risks to your home or structure.

2. Close all doors and windows. Closing doors and windows can prevent embers from entering the house or structure and igniting combustible materials, burning it down from the inside out.

3. Turn off air conditioning. This will prevent outside smoke from entering the home and causing preventable damage.

4. Leave a ladder out if you have one. Place a ladder near or against your home to allow firefighters quick access to your roof if needed.

Stay safe!
