Are you ghosting your relationship with money? 👻

Think about how you build a relationship with anyone you trust. You call them. You set a time. You show up.

Money's number one job is to be in service. But it can't do that job if you're giving it confusing, half-committed attention. "I'd like $10,000 a month, maybe, I'm not sure" gives money nothing to work with.

This habit is personal for me.

After I lost my first business, a bankruptcy attorney told me to go study the money habits of financially successful people.

I was told women don’t need to worry about money as a child. So, I used to ignore my ‘books’. Numbers made me anxious. I’d tighten up and ignore them another day. That habit led me to bankruptcy. I don’t want that for you.

This judgment, shame, and fear are the same for everyone.

But here's what I tell every client ➡️ when those feelings show up, ask them to take a hike!

Instead, approach your numbers with curiosity and an openness to learn more, because anything you find in your numbers, you can fix with a plan.

I hear this all the time. Usually because a budget sounds like a list of restrictions and everything you are not allowed to spend.

But that is not how I want you to use it. It’s simply understanding…

📌 Where your money is coming from
📌 Where it's going
📌 How you're choosing to spend it across the business
📌 What's left over, and what you do with it

That's it. It all starts with knowing where you're starting from. We just happen to call it a budget.

When's the last time you actually knew, off the top of your head, how much came in and went out of your business last month? 🤔

This isn't about being a numbers person. It's about:

✅ Understanding your assets, liabilities, equity, and debt, not just your bank balance.
✅ Making it a consistent, religious habit, not a once-a-year scramble.
✅ Being willing to sit down and talk about it instead of avoiding it.

Every wealthy person I studied after losing my first business to bankruptcy had this exact habit in common. It's not a personality trait. It's a practice.

Do your business numbers give you confidence or give you a knot in your stomach?

How money makes you feel impacts your decisions - like…how quickly you say yes or no to a new hire, how confidently you raise your prices, whether you can look at your bank balance without bracing for bad news.

Ask yourself these 3 questions:

1️⃣ When I look at my numbers, do I feel clarity or dread?
2️⃣ Am I making decisions from data, or from a guess dressed up as a gut feeling?
3️⃣ If my numbers gave me confidence, what would I decide differently?
