As I observe Father's Day, I remember the day that transformed my existence and unequivocally defined my life's journey, exemplifying my father's unrelenting support until the very end. In the month leading up to his passing, we shared a moment where he advised me to visit relatives in the United States, a suggestion that seemed inconsequential at the time.
Following a successful visa interview at the US Embassy in May 1986, I tried to reach my father via a telephone booth but was instead informed of his hospitalization and subsequent passing.
The coincidence of my visa approval and his hospitalization would forever be etched in my memory.
At nineteen, I assumed the role of primary provider for my family, driven by the wisdom and courage my father embodied. His selfless love and leadership continue to motivate me to honor his legacy and strive for excellence. I keep his memory alive in my heart and celebrate his enduring impact.
