Mertz Design Studio partnered with Angle Health to reduce admin headaches, simplify support, and create a better benefits experience for employees.

“The biggest change has been the speed and transparency. Questions get answered quickly, the platform is intuitive, and we spend far less time troubleshooting benefits issues.”

One of the biggest challenges in open enrollment today is that employees are being asked to make increasingly important healthcare decisions with less guidance and less understanding of what they’re actually choosing.

In this clip from our Fireside Chat, All Aboard: Modern Open Enrollment Strategies, David Slepak from Angle Health talks about why employee education and communication have become such a critical part of the benefits experience, especially as plans become more complex and workforces become more distributed.

The conversation also features Edward St. Jean III from O'Eme, along with Landon Fielding and Spencer Linsley from Brite, who share their perspectives on how brokers, employers, and technology partners can create a more effective enrollment experience that employees can actually navigate and use with confidence.

If employees do not understand their benefits, employers lose a major opportunity to reinforce the value they are investing in.

Underwriting today involves more variables than it used to. Data quality, cost volatility, and shifting utilization patterns are all playing a larger role in how risk is assessed and how plans are priced.

For brokers and consultants, this directly impacts how you guide employers, evaluate options, and set expectations heading into a new plan year.

We’re hosting a Fireside Chat to talk through what’s actually changing and how to think about risk today.

David Slepak will be joined by Brian McGuire and Sean Savage from our underwriting and actuarial team for a practical conversation on:
• How underwriting risk is evolving and what that means across employers, members, and plans
• The trends shaping today’s underwriting decisions, including data quality and cost pressure
• How to balance risk, pricing, and long-term stability in a competitive market

This will be a focused, working session grounded in how underwriting decisions are being made today.

If you are looking for a clearer view into what is driving pricing and risk, we would encourage you to join. Save your spot using the link in the comment below.

Employees notice when benefits don’t line up. They talk, compare what they’re getting, and when it feels uneven, it doesn’t take long before it starts to impact trust.

John Iorillo from Accelerated said it plainly during our Fireside Chat, "Leave No Employee Behind: Strategies for Low-Wage and Under Enrolled Groups": "If one is receiving something and the other isn’t, it creates a void."

That’s the part that gets missed. This isn’t just about offering coverage, it’s about whether it feels fair and usable across the entire workforce.

As more employers look for ways to support lower-wage and under-enrolled groups, that gap becomes a lot more visible.

Get more insights from John alongside Ari Nemetz from LEVR Health, Joshua Pyzik from The Difference Card, Mike Hoffman from Essential Health Plans, and David Slepak from Angle Health. Watch the full conversation on demand using the link in the comments below.

Employer-sponsored healthcare has a coordination problem. Not just at renewal, but in the day-to-day. It shows up in the extra emails, back-and-forth, and time spent figuring out who owns what.

The reality: most plans weren’t built to be coordinated. They’re stitched together across vendors and systems, with no clear center of accountability.

The next wave of change isn’t just about cost. It’s about building plans that actually work with fewer disconnected systems, clear ownership, and real support that doesn’t require chasing down answers.

That’s exactly what we’ve built at Angle. Because if a plan is hard to manage, it’s not really working.

Open enrollment looks different now, and it’s exposing some real gaps.

Our next Fireside Chat, All Aboard: Modern Open Enrollment Strategies, is a conversation about what’s actually working right now, especially as in-person meetings continue to fade.

Employees are making more decisions on their own, often without fully understanding what they’re choosing. That gap is where a lot of plans fall short.

We’re getting into that with a group that sees enrollment from every angle. Ed St. Jean, Founder of O’Eme, brings the employee engagement lens. Landon Fielding (Co-Founder & CEO) and Spencer Linsley (Head of Partnerships) from Brite work closely with brokers on how benefits are communicated and delivered. And David Slepak, VP of Sales & Marketing at Angle Health, ties it back to the plan and employer side.

We’ll talk through practical ways to make enrollment clearer, more engaging, and more effective, without relying on the old playbook.

If open enrollment feels more confusing or less impactful than it should be, this is a conversation worth joining.
