The Wigg Party

The Wigg Party Urban Sustainability Guerrillas

We have created a number of initiatives to help move our community toward resilience:

- In partnership with Apothocurious, we produce a monthly locally-sourced progressive dinner called the Urban Eating League
- We have saved many tons of food from the waste stream through our Fresh Produce Share-With-Alls in a collaboration with SF Glean and Hayes Valley Farm
- We have helped produce multiple Ca

rrotmobs in the neighborhood, providing capital for local business to become more sustainable
- We are developing a local currency called Wiggle Bucks
- We host skill-share parties
- We are spearheading a coalition of city and neighborhood groups working to make the Wiggle bicycle route more beautiful, safer for pedestrians and cyclists, and SF's newest landmark
- We produce and participate in various events focused primarily on simply creating community, the most notably our monthly Wigg Party Parties

Photo evidence of a car driver deliberately running over a person who rides a bicycle and then fleeing the scene and SFPD's response is "We only have one side of the story." Tells you all you need to know about how much respect they actually have for the rule of law and their concern for the safety of people on bicycles.

A cyclist side-swiped by a car was attempting to photograph its license plate when the driver gunned the engine, sending him onto the windshield.

Ed Lee won't trade safety for convenience. Except when he parks in crosswalks to get his coffee. Oh, and the adoption of the Idaho Stop reduced collisions by 15% overnight. But who needs facts?

Much outrage of late has been aimed at San Francisco's darn scofflaw cyclists, as angry drivers and pedestrians call bicycle users who roll through stop...

Here's video evidence that even Captain Sanford treats stop signs as yield signs while on a bicycle.

We weren't going to put this out because we didn't want to embarrass the Captain, but after thinking about it we realized he has nothing to be embarrassed about - treating a stop sign as a yield sign is a perfectly normal, safe, reasonable thing to do. If he wants to be embarrassed by his own hypocrisy, that's his problem.

Bicyclists treating stop signs as yield signs is such a reasonable thing to do, even the poster child of cracking down on bicyclists, Captain John Sanford, d...

Examiner declares the bike crackdown over. Our sources at the meeting didn't exactly hear that. We'll see what plays out.

However, if a handful of complaints about traffic violations can elicit such a huge crackdown, we're excited to see how SFPD responds to our impending complaintathon focused on actual dangerous behaviors by drivers. Stay tuned.

The San Francisco Police Department crackdown on stop-sign-slipping cyclists drew the ire of thousands of gearheads and cheers from thousands of motorists. Now that crackdown is over, said SFPD Capt. »
